March Against Poverty Held in Winnipeg

On October 17, the United Nations Day for the Elimination of Poverty, about 100 people marched through the streets of Winnipeg to highlight the problems of the poor. The demonstration, organized by the Manitoba Coalition for Economic Justice, also demanded the implementation of a People's Bill of Economic Rights, which would guarantee all Canadians the right to the basic necessities of life, as well as the right to jobs with decent pay, to health-care and education and the right to fully participate in the social, cultural and political life of the society.
