15th World Festival of Youth and Students
The 15th World Festival of Youth and Students will be held in Algiers from August 8-16. The Festival will include discussions around various themes, including Peace and Security, Neo-liberal Globalization and Development, Democracy, Human Rights and Social Justice, Youth and Student Rights and the International Youth and Students' Movement. There will also be special forums and solidarity programs organized on specific topics, as well as a sports and a cultural component. The Festival is open to anyone who considers himself or herself as a youth and/or student.
The 14th World Festival of Youth and Students, held in Havana, Cuba in 1997, was attended by
12,325 youth and students from 136 countries, including hundreds from Canada.
