Hundreds Rally in Winnipeg Against Israeli Aggression

A crowd of hundreds of Palestinians and their supporters of all ages and from all walks of life rallied at the Manitoba Legislative Building on Saturday afternoon, April 6, to denounce the unprecedented aggression of the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) against the Palestinian people during the past week. This rally was one of dozens across the country, all characterized by people's outrage against the killing of innocent men, women and children in their own homes and communities, against the rounding up of thousands of Palestinians suspected of being "terrorists", and against the bulldozing of neighbourhoods and villages, and many other unconscionable acts against human beings.

At the rally in Winnipeg, speaker after speaker denounced Israel and called for the immediate withdrawal of the IDF from the occupied territories. They called for long-term solutions to the crisis in the Middle East and for peace. They called upon the Canadian government to take a clear stand against the Israeli aggression, and for Israel to heed the repeated resolutions of the United Nations against their continued presence in the occupied territories. They appealed to the conscience of all Canadians to take a stand against the crimes against humanity which are being committed by Israel.

The rally organizers announced their plan to rally at the Legislative Building again next Saturday, April 13 at 2:00 p.m. and to march through the streets of Winnipeg to draw attention to the situation in Palestine.
