United May Day Banquet Held in Winnipeg

The third annual United May Day Banquet in Winnipeg opened with a tribute to Brother Bruce MacKay, a long-time labour activist and organizer of May Day events who passed away just before New Year. The banquet featured several activists speaking about their vision of the movement, its strengths and weaknesses and what can be done to open up a path for advance. Greetings to the banquet were brought by Jean Claude Parrot, Vice-President of the Canadian Labour Congress. Following the speeches, the trio Three Blind Mice performed 60s protest songs.
