U.S. Considered Pre-emptive Strike Against North Korea

South Korea's president-elect Roh Moo-hyun revealed recently that the Bush administration was seriously considering launching pre-emptive strikes against the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK or North Korea) last October in response to that country's decision to restart its nuclear energy program. The government of South Korea strongly opposed such a plan, which would have resulted in a catastrophic war on the Korean Peninsula and the death of millions of Koreans on both sides of the border.

At the time, the Americans claimed that North Korea had admitted that it was constructing nuclear weapons. The South Koreans insisted that the Americans were guilty of mistranslating the statements of North Korean officials and that they had merely stated that they had a right to possess nuclear weapons to defend themselves against American threats of nuclear annihilation. However, the Bush administration continues to repeat the lie that North Korea is actively building nuclear warheads.

Even under the terms of the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, a signatory country such as North Korea has the right to acquire nuclear weapons to defend itself against a nuclear threat by another state. Despite repeated promises to do so, the United States has never pledged not to use nuclear weapons against North Korea. On the contrary, Bush included North Korea as a member of an "axis of evil" and reiterated a nuclear pre-emptive strike policy against that country.

The fact that the Bush administration actually considered a possible nuclear war scenario in Korea over a faulty translation demonstrates the serious danger that the American regime poses to the peoples of the world. It also demonstrates the total lack of concern the Bush regime has for human life even in the case of its close allies, especially if those allies happen to be Asian, and confirms once again that the United States has become the world's most dangerous rogue state and the main source of global terror.
