ICAP Representative Visits Winnipeg

Eva Doris, a member of the North American desk of the Cuban Institute for Friendship Among the Peoples (ICAP), is currently spending two weeks in Winnipeg, from July 20 - August 3, as part of a tour of the Prairie region. Her visit to Winnipeg was sponsored by the Rotary Club of Winnipeg with whom she will spend her second week.

Her first week was spent as a guest of the Manitoba-Cuba Solidarity Committee, culminating in her participation in the gala Moncada Day celebration held in Winnipeg. Other highlights of her first week included a visit to the Roseau River First Nation; a meeting with Mayor Glen Murray to discuss the upcoming twinning of Winnipeg with the city of Camaguay, Cuba; visits to historic sites and museums like The Forks, Lower Fort Garry, and the Children''s Museum. Eva expressed great pleasure at seeing the city and having the opportunity to meet many Winnipeggers from different walks of life.

Eva's visit will include Saskatoon, where she will meet with farmers' groups, and Toronto, after which she will return to Havana on August 22.
